Featured Success Story

VividQ uses Zemax to simplify computer-generated holography for AR

Based in London and Cambridge, England, VividQ specializes in computer-generated holography (CGH) software and consulting to help companies produce high-quality devices that integrate digital content into the visual world. Used together with a spatial light modulator (SLM) and a light source (usually a laser), VividQ technology applies three-dimensional data from sources like gaming engines, 3D cameras, and computer-aided drafting (CAD) software to manipulate the diffraction and interference properties of light, resulting in a dynamic, interactive holographic experience.

Analyze your system to evaluate performance

OpticStudio includes a suite of optical engineering tools to analyze the performance of your system. In addition to the classic analysis functions, OpticStudio also offers Full-field Aberration analysis to improve freeform designs; contrast analysis for MTF optimization; and Image Simulation to produce photorealistic images of object scenes.

OpticStudio 22.1.1 contains the following fixes and enhancements

Feature Enhancements

  • Make Private Catalog tool – This tool now also supports the conversion of binary ZOS files to a private catalog. When converting a directory of ZOS files to a private catalog, the resulting catalog is stored in the Zemax\Stockcat folder using a new binary catalog file format (.ZLC).

Bug Fixes

  • NSC Sag Map – Fixed an issue in the NSC Sag Map analysis, where the InsideOf flag did not get assigned correctly for the Source Ray when the object was a Boolean Native.
  • Project Directories – Fixed an issue that could prevent some ZOS-API applications from properly reading files in a user’s Project Directory.
  • Convert to NSC Group tool – Fixed issues with the resulting lens geometry when using the Convert to NSC Group tool and the sequential system was set up using virtual propagation through a Standard or Even Asphere surface.
  • Convert to NSC Group tool – Fixed issues with placing sources when using the Convert to NSC Group tool and the sequential file utilized multiple configurations with different field values in each configuration.
  • Convert to NSC Group tool – Fixed a potential crash when using the Convert to NSC Group tool  for systems with User Defined Apertures.
  • Convert to NSC Group tool – Fixed an issue where the orientation of an Off-Axis Mirror was not correct when using the Convert to NSC Group tool and the originating mirror surface had a non-zero conic constant.
  • Convert to NSC Group tool – Fixed issues for some sequential to non-sequential conversions when the Stop surface was set to also be the global coordinate reference.
  • srg_step2_RCWA.DLL – A bug was fixed in the Diffraction DLL “srg_step2_RCWA.dll” that caused the wrong parameter to be affected when a value was changed in the object properties.
