New in MASTA 9

The next generation in commercial grade CAE design, analysis and optimisation for mechanical transmissions is now available.

Below summarizes the major updates in the latest release of MASTA.

Major new and enhanced functionality includes:

  • Calculation of airborne sound power based on the vibration of a full FE component as part of a Gear Whine/Harmonic Excitation Analysis
  • New functionality for the visualisation and export of operating deflection shapes
  • Generate detailed FE models of shafts using the geometry defined in MASTA
  • Improved visualisation options for contact charts and colour maps
  • Updated SKF Bearing data including bearing PCD, number of elements and element diameters
  • The flexibility of spline couplings can now be accounted for as part of a System Deflection analysis
  • Various other enhancements to previously existing functionality

Gear Whine/Harmonic Excitation Analysis

  • New results available including airborne sound power for a full FE component.
  • Interface improvements to allow more flexibility in the results shown, including showing the response at multiple locations on one plot.
  • Export of operating deflection shapes in op2 file format that can directly be used in acoustic analysis packages.
  • Display of operating deflection shapes in 3D view.

Shaft FE Meshing

  • A new option to generate FE meshes of shafts and gear blanks directly in MASTA with full control over the mesh parameters and including all rotationally symmetric features such as fillets and u-shaped grooves.
  • View stress results on FE-replaced shafts following System Deflection analysis
