PIPESIM 2018.1.706 Schlumberger

New Features in PIPESIM 2018.1
• Well performance curves task
• Salama model for erosion calculations
• Spot reports
• Downhole injection point
• Python Toolkit enhancements
• Various bug fixes and minor enhancements
Well performance curves task
In PIPESIM, well performance curves (flowrate vs. outlet pressure) can be generated for use in place of full
well simulation during a network simulation. In PIPESIM 2018.1, the Well performance curves task is made
available from the user interface. This task enables the generation of well performance curves for
visualization of data.
Salama model for erosion calculations
PIPESIM 2018.1 exposes the Salama erosion model in the user interface, eliminating the need for keywords
to use this option.
Spot reports
In PIPESIM 2018.1, spot reports are available through the user interface. Spot reports can be added in a well
or surface location, to provide additional reporting at that specific location. Examples are flow maps, phase
envelopes, and heat transfer data. Spot reports may be produced for the following tasks: PT Profile, System
Analysis, Nodal Analysis, Data Comparison, and Network Simulation.
Downhole injection point
Injection points are now available both as surface and downhole equipment for easy inclusion from the user
interface. The injection point can be used to inject fluid at any location in the system.PIPESIM Version 2018.1 Release Notes

Python Toolkit Updates
The Python toolkit (first released with PIPESIM 2017.1) includes several enhancements. These include:
• Well Curves generation
• System Analysis
• Gas Lift Diagnostic
• Python Toolkit deployment & performance
Various bug fixes, enhancements & documentation improvements
PIPESIM 2018.1 includes several bug fixes and improvements. Some of them are listed below.
• Junctions are no longer duplicated when importing shapefiles (#133538)
• The ESP slip factor is set correctly when converting a PIPESIM 2012.x case to PIPESIM 2018.1
(#137974)
• The highest water cut in a user defined viscosity ratio table is now taken as the cutoff value
(#134533)
• An algorithm fix prevents simulations using the TUFFP flow model from stopping with a “floating invalid
– possible uninitialized real/complex variable” error (#135482).
• Deleting an inactive well referred to in one or more studies no longer leads to a crash (#136389)
• In the Fluid editor and Phase envelope windows, PIPESIM now reports the GOR in SCF/bbl and Sm3/m3
only (#132518)
