MacroFlow 4.2

MacroFlow is a powerful software tool for rapid and accurate flow and thermal design of flow systems in a wide variety of engineering applications. The underlying technique of Flow Network Modeling (FNM) involves representation of a flow system as a network of components and flow paths with overall flow and thermal characteristics. The system behavior is determined through a system-level direct solution of the mass, momentum and energy conservation equations.

Key Features of MacroFlow 4.2

  • Intuitive Graphical User Interface (GUI): Easy network construction with drag-and-drop components; flexible solution control (steady-state/transient, parametric sweeps); powerful postprocessing with graphical displays of pressure, flow rates, temperatures, velocities, and more.
  • Extensive Component Library & Fluid Database: Built-in library of standard elements (pipes, bends, valves, pumps, fans, heat exchangers, orifices, filters, electronics enclosures, cold plates, etc.); comprehensive fluid property database (air, water, refrigerants, oils, custom fluids) with temperature/pressure dependence.
  • Flow & Thermal Analysis Capabilities:
    • Steady-state and transient simulations for dynamic system response (e.g., pump startup, thermal transients).
    • Accurate prediction of flow distribution, pressure losses, heat transfer, and temperature rise in complex branched networks.
    • Support for compressible/incompressible flows, single-phase/multi-phase, and buoyancy effects.
  • Electronics Cooling Specialization: Tailored tools for air-cooled/liquid-cooled systems (servers, telecom racks, power electronics, radar systems); modeling of heat sinks, cold plates, fans, ducts, and chassis-level flow/thermal behavior.
  • Semiconductor & General Process Applications: Rapid analysis of wafer processing chambers, gas delivery systems, filtration units, and high-purity fluid networks; quick sizing of pumps, regulators, and piping.
  • Optimization & Parametric Studies: Built-in tools for sensitivity analysis, design optimization, and trade-off studies; easy “what-if” comparisons of configurations.
  • Performance & Usability Improvements in 4.2:
    • Faster solver convergence for large networks.
    • Enhanced visualization (contour plots, animated transients, export to video/PDF reports).
    • Better error diagnostics and network validation.
    • Improved import/export (e.g., from Excel, CAD, other CFD tools).
  • Reporting & Output: Customizable plots, tables, and reports; export of results for documentation or integration with other tools.
